Together with Dr. Unna Danner from Rintveld clinic and Dr. Nienke Tielemans from Eikenboom clinic (both Altrecht) we are investigating whether patients with eating disorders and somatic symptom disorder show different or simialr deficits in flexibility

Much of my research has focused on the detrimental effects of stress on the brain. Currently I work with Dr. Hui-Xin Wang from Stockholm University on a project on how work stress can affect the brain

To model the effect that sex hormones may have on behavior we recently started a collaboration with Veterinary Sciences. Together with Dr.Stefanie Nelemans from Pedagogical Sciences and Dr. Marijke Achterberg we are planning to study how hormonal contraceptives change the brain in adolescence, using both human and rat study set-ups

The aging brain

 Depression can double the risk for dementia onset, but we still do not know what the underlying mechanisms are and who is particularly susceptible. Together with Dr. Mirjam Geerlings from UMC Utrecht and Professor Lenore Launer from NIA we continue this line of research
